The Department of Anthropology is hosting this year’s post-graduate symposium on Indigenous People’s Issues. If interested, you may submit paper abstracts through the QR code in the poster. Deadline is on 14 July 2024. The symposium is co-organized by the department with the Center for World Austronesia and Indigenous Peoples of the National Tsing-Hua University and the Institute for Borneo Studies of the University of Malaysia, Sarawak.

Aaron Philip Dela Cruz 4th place Loretta Makasiar Sicar Price for the Social Sciences
The Department congratulates our Lecturer, Ms. Aaron Philip Dela Cruz, for winning fourth place in the 3rd Loretta Makasiar Sicar Prize for the Social Sciences. Her MA thesis is an ethnography of ‘pagkikilatis’ in online and on-site sabong (cockfighting).

The UP Department of Anthropology presents ‘TriKal – Kalikasan, Kalinangan at Kalooban: A Biological and Ecological Anthropology Lecture Series’. Lectures will be held either in-person at UP CSSP AVR (PH 207) or online via Zoom. The first talk will be held on Oct 25, 2023 at 230 pm. Subsequent talks will be held at 4pm. Our first speaker is geneticist Jae Rodriguez. We will post further details on individual lecture titles.
