Tropical Transplants: Transnational Practices of Filipinos in Iceland
“Tropical Transplants: Transnational Practices of Filipinos in Iceland” with Dr. Unnur Dís Skaptadóttir, Professor of Anthropology, University of Iceland.
September 11, 2014, Palma Hall Room 207 (CSSP AVR), 4 to 6 pm
The talk will essentially be about Filipinos in Iceland. Dr. Unnur Dís Skaptadóttir is conducting long-term research on adjustment behaviors of Filipinos living there. Migration of Filipinos to Iceland is in its infancy stage (not more than 50 years) and along with the observation that Iceland constitutes a relatively “homogeneous” society, migration can pose a considerable challenge (M. Gil).
