Over the past decade or so, Hector Guazon's participation in and identification with anthropological practice extend in various arenas: as assistant professor at the Department of Social Sciences, University of the Philippines-Mindanao (2005-2006), and as lecturer at the Department of Anthropology, University of the Philippines-Diliman (2006-), teaching folklore, religion, social anthropology, economic anthropology, urban anthropology, field methods in social anthropology and folklore; as assistant curator at the St Louis University Museum, Baguio City; as consultant of CICM-Rome on Religious Formation; as officer of the Ugnayang Pang-Aghamtao or the Anthropological Association of the Philippines; as knowledge producer through his recent publications in peer-reviewed journal.
He has produced an thesis on the micropolitics of initiation of a religious congregation in the Philippines, as part of his MA program in the University of the Philippines- Diliman (2004) and dissertation on the sociomoral world of the Filipino Catholics in Brussels, Belgium as requirement for his doctorate in the University of the Philippines-Diliman (2012). His disciplined disposition was recognized by the Katholiek Universiteit-Leuven, which granted him international scholarship during his field research in Brussels (2009-2010) and accrued positively to his production of vital contribution to anthropology of religion, religious institution, Roman Catholicism, migration, morality as well as psychological and urban anthropology.
